FOUND; adjective - having been discovered by chance or unexpectedly.

FOUND; exhibition - a collection of work inspired by 3 individual journeys.

For over a decade Fleur, Kate and Sarah each followed successful design-led career paths, only to ultimately discover the artistic drive that lay dormant under their commercial successes. Their creative passions bubbled to the surface, and each now pursues unique artistic careers.

A curated series of paintings and ceramics, the exhibition conveys each artist’s stage on their creative journey. Collectively, this exhibition communicates how each artist has been found.

FOUND: A Sea of Vases

Wheel-thrown brush glazed stoneware

The table pieces are a series of wheel-thrown stoneware vases of varying heights, symbolising forms that have been washed and battered by the sea. I used painterly brush strokes of glaze to capture the split second when the waves hit the shore. Each piece is singular and distinct, but together they demonstrate the magnitude and individuality of each wave. The colour choice mirrors the palette of the plate installation, just as the sea reflects the shoreline on a clear day.

FOUND: Dungeness

Hand-built glazed stoneware

The table plate installation is an abstraction of a beach scene along the coast of Dungeness. An understated image of sombre seas, using colour, form and scale to express the tenderness and tranquillity of the experience. The forms have glazes in soothing tones and are hand-built using white stoneware; this makes each piece uniquely personal, showing my hand.
