Creative Workshops

With more than 20 years of experience presenting to clients in her former career, Katharine is perfectly placed to share her knowledge and experience of clay through Creative Workshops.

Katharine starts the process by meeting with the host to discuss timing, attendees and techniques to be demonstrated. The workshops will be based on a theme and are always designed to be unique to the group. After the initial meeting, the offering and pricing will be developed, which will include tutoring, materials, firing, travel, expenses and postage.

Workshops are typically 90 mins and between 8-10 attendees. This provides time for hands-on tutoring and for the group to learn and experience the process, and for each attendee to produce an individual ceramic piece.

The workshop will start with an introduction to clay and the ceramic process and then an explanation of what the group will be learning and creating. Katharine will help guide individuals throughout the session. No prior knowledge of ceramics or art is required, attendees just need to bring an open mind and plenty of enthusiasm.

Once the workshop is finished, Katharine will take the pieces back to her studio to dry, glaze and fire, and the finished pieces will be ready in 3-4 weeks. She will also share progress of the pieces throughout these stages of the process, so the group learning can continue past the workshop.

All workshops are based around hand-building and surface decoration techniques and are offered in the host’s place of work or home. Katharine is available to travel to locations in London and the Southeast of England to hold workshops.
